Need to watch Thor: The Dark World first.

My first observation at the beginning of the first movie was like.

Thor is a brat and Loki is sensible. Remind me why Loki is a supervillain in the Marvel universe.

because everything most people "know" about the nordic mythology is based on the Edda, which was wrote by a Christian. it's not an objective view on the Nordic mythology, but it's mixed with Christian values. for example, the ice giants originally aren't evil and the gods aren't good. they are nature and order. but such a point of view couldn't exist in a christians mind at that time and so they changed most of the myth. and since most of the common knowledge is based on that, most of the common knowledge is wrong and that's what Loki is the super villain.

And according to Norse Mythology, Thor was the favorite son of Odin.

That reminds me, I had a thought on Valentine's day, after giving Harry his present, which he LOVED, BTW. If Valentine's Day is a day for couples, how come all the presents and things marketed are geared to get women things? Like flowers, candy, jewelry.. etc. That'd be fine if the couple celebrating Valentine's day is two women, but what about the guys that are involved in relationships?

according to a friend of mine who studies Nordic mythology, Thor wasn't Odin's son at all. that's just one of the many common mistakes.

We need a movies category that has a warning for potential spoilers.

I mean the Thor movies are based of the Marvel universe.

But some people might not know about that stuff.

@Ebil: it's an interesting concept, though, isn't it? There's definitely a market for it, especially around the holiday. Why should women get all the attention while men are left out? Men can be part of a couple, too. I'm tempted to open a seasonal store designed so that people can find the men Valentine's presents.

I actually liked Loki better because he at least tried to stop Thor from being an idiot. Might not have worked but he still tried.

But yeah. Why should the ladies get all the candy? Guys get candy...when they are in elementary school. But not when they get older.

@other topic: well, a man with a heart is socially not accepted. men are supposed to be strong and 100% rational, while women should be cheep prostitutes that can be bought with flowers and chocolate.
