I need help. I have to write a 5000 word assay about either Dungeons and Dragons or about Das Schwarze Auge. The problem is, I don't know what to write. it's supposed to be historical, so it should be about the beginnings of the game. it's just urm, I don't know. I have a wrters block.

The history of the game is good. Like how it started and how it got popular.

If you're allowed to, add in stuff about the game itself. Like the different gods and whatnot.

Could start by describing what the game is in great detail. Your teacher might not be familiar with the game and since you know so much about it, you'd be teaching your teacher about the game through your essay. Put as much helpful information as you can to explain it.

Start with what the game is and entails. What happens in the game? How do you attack? describe the different classes and types of heroes. What they do? What their abilities are? What are attributes? What are they used for? What weapons are used in the game? Which weapon is best for each of the different classes? Why Mages study and train in one thing and Warriors and Healers study and train in something else?
Then go into the history of the game. When was it first played? Who started playing it? As in the types of people that started playing it. Were the early players of the game royalty, politicians, common everyday people? Why was the game started? Was it started as a means of fantasy entertainment, to provide realistic battle depictions to be used in reporting to those of higher ranks, or to train soldiers for battle?
You could talk about the time period that heroes in game come from. When is it? What events are happening during the same time the fictional hero is running around and fighting monsters? What are the beliefs of the time?
If the essay is too short after informing about the history of the game you could expound on the essay by making it more personal. Explaining your thoughts, ideas, opinions, and feelings on the game. You could tell of a hero you created for the game. Who the hero is? What he does? What he believes? Describe the type of life your hero leads. Where did your hero live? What was the name of the country in which your hero lives at the time your hero lived? What is it's current name today? For example, if Berion really existed, would Warunk have been in Germany or Prussia? If Warunk existed, today, where could you point to on a map to locate it?

When writing a lengthy essay explaining a thing is easy. Just go into great detail explaining, Who, what, where, why, when, and how of the thing you are explaining.

but it's not a long essay. it has only 5000 words, that is very short. also the topic is not the game, but the history of the game, so a great detailed description of the game would be not related to the topic. But the second idea was good.

5000 words is a lot longer than you think it is when you write an assignment out and do a word count only to discover you come up short.
5000 words is about 10 pages with spacing and word font size.

It won't hurt to have a light, simple, explanation of the game as a lead off to get you into the paper, then go into a more detailed history of the game itself.

You'd be saying something like, This is the game, this is what you do in the game, and then, this is the game's history. Going on and on, focusing more on the history of the game, rather than the game itself. Describing the game would just be your introduction. The body of the paper would cover the historical aspects of the game. Your conclusion would be tying everything together to determine the importance of the history of the game and the game itself.

Either way, you've got your beginning and can segue into the main focus of the assignment, easily.

LOL, I love a delivery guy that doesn't pay attention and perfect timing on my part.
I go down to put the smoker's block in the security door, so the delivery driver can let himself in and come to our apartment. I did this about 5 minutes before the driver shows up and rings our buzzer, not realizing that the door was open for him.

I know when a driver who delivers to my house is a regular when he/she rings the doorbell and then goes to wait on me to open the garage door.

I have at least two regular drivers.
